What is feminism? What is queer? And who am I to write my feminist/lesbian/queer self/selves? Who are you to write your own self/selves? What does feminism make of all those statistics? Of one woman in five who is a victim of rape or attempted rape during her lifetime? I am one of those women. In the face of those numbers, my own experience ties me to that long-standing feminist ethic of self-critique, to the critical imagination and strategic contemplation of Royster and Kirsch, to the communal resilience of Flynn, Sotirin, and Brady. These lines, too, form part of my rhizome, my rootstock, my thresholds of being. forward back
